BRIAN CAMELIO,ARTISTSHARE FOUNDER +

Kate SchuttRaised in Delaware, Kate was schooled in Boston, both at Harvard’s English department, where she studied the influence of jazz on modern poetry, and at Berklee, where she studied jazz guitar. Now living in Toronto, she is carving out a niche as a writer and performer of new jazz standards. Her persuasive arrangements and melodies show a deep involvement with the history of jazz.
Kate plays a Novax 8-string, the instrument made famous by Charlie Hunter. And she is at home, with her high and dry voice, singing jazz tainted both ith a bit of the blues and with pop gestures and attitudes. Her new artistShare project, No Love Lost, is currently topping the jazz charts in Canada.

Tuesday-22.July.08: After years of hard work and saving, you finally own a home. But don't get too comfortable. If government officials decide they want your property, they can take it—for a wide variety of shady reasons that go far beyond the usual definition of "public purposes." The courts have allowed these injustices to persist. And there is nothing you can do about it—not yet.
Real estate developer and property rights expert and guest on today's show: Don Corace offers the first in-depth look at eminent domain abuse and other government regulations that are strangling the rights of property owners across America. Government Pirates is filled with shocking stories of corrupt politicians, activist judges, entrenched bureaucrats, greedy developers, NIMBY (Not-in-My-Backyard) activists, and environmental extremists who conspire to seize property and extort money and land in return for permits. Corace provides the hard facts about individual rights and offers invaluable advice for those whose property may be in danger. It is the one book that every property owner in America has to read.

He later studied with Dewey Redman, Kenny Wheeler, Chucho Valdés and Pat Labarbera. His first album, 1996's Find a Way (Page Music), prompted Globe and Mail critic Mark Miller to write: "His solos are supremely melodic- think of Stan Getz, or of John Coltrane at his most wistful... a terrific debut CD." He won the Grand Jazz Award at the 1997 Montreal International Jazz Festival. Miller's discography includes Playgrounds (1998, Justin-Time Records), ... and then everything started to look different ... (2000, Effendi). Over the years, Miller has collaborated with a wide range of artists including Ingrid Jensen, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ben Monder, Brad Turner, and Steve Amirault. The notorious case became the basis of Bugliosi's "Helter Skelter," the biggest selling true-crime book in publishing history.
In his latest book, the attorney points to the Bush administration's public statements that prompted the Iraq War and led to the deaths of thousands of American troops and Iraqi civilians as the reasons for his murder allegation against the president.

MISTAKES WERE MADE-BUT NOT BY ME :
Why do people dodge responsibility when things fall apart? Why the parade of public figures unable to own up when they screw up? Why the endless marital quarrels over who is right? Why can we see hypocrisy in others but not in ourselves? Are we all liars? Or do we really believe the stories we tell?
Renowned social psychologists Carol Tavris and Elliot Aronson take a compelling look into how the brain is wired for self-justification. When we make mistakes, we must calm the cognitive dissonance that jars our feelings of self-worth. And so we create fictions that absolve us of responsibility, restoring our belief that we are smart, moral, and right—a belief that often keeps us on a course that is dumb, immoral, and wrong.
Backed by years of research and delivered in lively, energetic prose, Mistakes Were Made (But Not by Me) offers a fascinating explanation of self-deception—how it works, the harm it can cause, and how we can overcome it.

In 1988, in an attic office in Berkeley, California, a revolution was born. At a time when bad news about the environment was splashed across newspapers from coast to coast, freelance writer John Javna decided to write a book to empower the average citizen in the fight to save the environment. Against all odds, his little, self-published book made its way into the world, onto the NYT bestseller list, and helped launch a green revolution…ultimately selling millions of copies.
KERRY KENNEDY,daughter of Ethel and Robert Kennedy, started working in the field of human rights in 1981 when she investigated abuses committed by U.S. immigration officials against refugees from El Salvador. Wed :
we close the show w/:
A live update w/ The Columbus Dispatch's Alan Johnson re: The Ohio Atty.General's office-
we begin talking Democrats and China policy w/ /the alliance for American Mfg:
Democratic Presidential Candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama vowed to hold China and other offending countries accountable for unfair trade practices that disadvantage U.S. workers and manufacturers at a candidate forum this morning in Pittsburgh. Senator John McCain was invited but unable to attend.
The forum was sponsored by the Alliance for American Manufacturing (AAM), a non-partisan, non-profit labor-management coalition of the United Steelworkers and the nation’s leading manufacturers forged to strengthen manufacturing in America.
“Today, voters demanded that their presidential candidates get tough on China,” said AAM Executive Director Scott Paul. “And while the candidates at today’s forum made strong commitments on trade, we must ensure that their promises become policies that enforce our laws against unfair trade and defend our workers and domestic industries.”
The candidates appeared separately. Each spoke for 20 minutes on trade and manufacturing issues before fielding several questions from the diverse audience of over 1,600 union workers, manufacturers, and local elected officials. AAM principals and partners also addressed the crowd, including United Steelworkers International President Leo W. Gerard, United States Steel Corporation Senior Vice President Terrence Straub, Allegheny Technologies Chief Executive Patrick Hassey and AK Steel Chief Executive Jim Wainscott.
“China must stop manipulating its currency because it’s not fair to American manufacturers, it’s not fair to you, and we are going to change it when I am President,” said Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) in his remarks to forum attendees, where he also criticized trade agreements like NAFTA. He pledged to “fight for manufacturing, modernize the steel industry, strengthen our manufacturing base, and have a manufacturing policy to open as many markets as we can for American workers.”
“I’m calling for changing our laws to send China a message,” said Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY), who outlined her trade agenda to the audience and highlighted national security concerns related to unfair trade. “If you subsidize your exports and hurt our manufacturers, you’ll pay a price.” She argued that “you cannot be a strong nation without a strong manufacturing sector.”
The candidate forum is part of a larger effort by AAM to highlight the impact that China’s unfair trade practices have had on American workers and manufacturers. AAM has called for stronger enforcement of U.S. trade law and last week launched a statewide advertisement and grassroots campaign entitled, “China Cheats. Pennsylvania Loses.” A PDF of the ad is posted at: http://www.americanmanufacturing.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2008/04/aam_pennsylvania_032708a.pdf
